One of the things I love about Jamie is that we have so many common interests. She inspires me to be more creative in my every day life, we build each other up through the sharing of God’s Word, we love to exchange ideas for being the best homemakers we can while also having roles to fill outside the home, and she is a sounding board for me when I need to talk to a mom who has been where I am. One of the other things we both love is reading.
We don’t always read the same kind of books (which you can see if you follow me and Jamie on goodreads), but that is part of what makes it fun. Especially for me, since I work in a library and can pull from what I know she has enjoyed to provide suggestions for patrons. I love having friends who share my interests but still help me to expand my view of things.
While we have unique tastes, there are plenty of books we have both loved. We both read It Is Finished by Charles Martin this Lent, and that was what first got us thinking about doing a book chat. When considering which book to start with, we decided to go with one we both own and have been wanting to read (or finish reading!) on a topic that fits the season of life we are in.
So, we are officially inviting you to come read with us, starting this May with Family Vocation by Gene Edward Veith Jr. and Mary J. Moerbe. You can grab your copy of the book here (including a kindle option because we know May is almost here!) and we will be reading through page 32 for our first discussion on May 6th. Each of us will share our thoughts, and it is our hope that you will join in the discussion as well! Let us know you are planning to read along, and we will see you back here on May 6th for our first Pure Joy Book Chat!
This is such a great idea, and I’ve had this one in my TBR pile for too long. Just the incentive I need to read along with you lovely ladies.
